Blood Red Sky

There’s a stranger standing by the highway
And there’s danger in his eyes
There’s a storm cloud over the town up ahead
A bad omen in the sky

There’s a wolf lying dead in a ditch by the road
And buzzards are hanging low
There’s a dark, uneasy feeling that’s come over me
What it means, I don’t exactly know

[chorus]
Blood Red Sky… somebody has died.
Blood Red Sky somewhere a young wife is crying
My pulse pounds deep with the earth’s heartbeat
Blood flows in the sands of time
Blood Red Sky; Blood Red Sky

There’s a graveyard deep in McCutcheon’s Woods
And there’s a new grave dug tonight
No gravestone to mark the resting place
Of a young man lost in a drunken fight

[chorus]
