We can’t close our eyes to what’s going on
Religion and politics together have all gone wrong
History echoes through time in a cycle of blood
And it’s all come down on Darfur
[chorus]
How many times will we say, “Never again!”?
How long must we wait For the killing to end?
How many children must die
Before we hear their mothers’ cries?
The bloodshed is a crime we cannot defend
How many times will we say, “Never again!”?
We sat around a table and talked while thousands died
We made a speech about peace and said “at least we tried”
But a million martyrs lie rotting in barren fields
And their blood like a river flows
We can’t close our eyes to what’s going on
Together we can stop the killing and it must be done
How loud must we shout, “Never again!”
Before the world finally hears
