Something strange has happened here
It’s got me quite perplexed
Strange things I cannot explain
Nor say what happens next
Dead men walking down the road
Is not a common sight
I wonder if it’s mixed up with
That Jew they crucified
[chorus]
Dead men walk — what a strange mystery
Tombs have been emptied — who knows what it means?
What kind of god has the power to give the dead new life?
Who can fear then to die when dead men walk?
Dead men walk – what a strange mystery
Blind men see again and mutes start to sing
What kind of god has the power to take away death’s sting?
Who can save their own life when dead men walk?
I felt an earthquake then the sun
Was covered up, like night
A sense of dread came over me
I thought I’d die of fright
I talked to many friends who saw
The same things that I did
Some of them were so afraid
They ran inside and hid
Dead men walk the streets today
I can’t say how or why
They walk and act like normal men
They talk and laugh and cry
I wonder at the reason they are
Granted their life-breath
I wonder at the power
Of a god who defies death
