[verse 1]
C….F….C
Jesus stood on a grassy hill, talkin’ to his men
C……..G
Just before he left the earth he turned to them and grinned
C….F….C
He said, “Go into all the world and here’s where you begin –
C…….G..C
Get down on the highway and drag them suckers in”
CHORUS
F…..C
Drag them suckers in, make ‘em feel at home;
C….G
The road don’t feel so rocky if you don’t feel alone;
C….F….C
The Lord cares where you’re headed, He don’t care where you been
C……G..C
So go out into the highways, boys, and drag them suckers in.
[verse 2]
It’s nice to have a pretty church, with spires reaching high,
But the neighbor that y’oughta love may not be inside;
Some folks don’t go to your church, but they’re God’s children, too
And the only Jesus they may see is the one they see in you.
[verse 3]
Some folks need a good hot meal, and some need a helping hand,
And some folks need someone who’ll come around and be a friend;
We’re all in this together, and y’don’t know how it ends
So reach out and touch somebody any way you can.
[verse 4]
“Love your neighbor, feed the poor, take care of orphans, too”
These were just a few good things Jesus said to do
This is how God’s kingdom comes into perfect view
This is how God’s kingdom comes to work in you
[verse 5]
Drag ’em, grab ’em, rope ’em, scope ’em, put ’em in a pew
Clean ’em, screen ’em, trampoline ’em, maybe clothe ’em, too
Give ’em food and water and maybe some new shoes
Do the thing that you hear Jesus calling you to do
[verse 6]
When they hold the final judgment, they won’t ask how good you sang,
They’ll only care how much you dared to help your fellow man;
Jesus speaks to all of us, sometimes the volume’s low-
Y’gotta reach out and turn it up, just like the radio.
