Freedom

There’s a soft, rustling wind that carries a whisper
The voice of a poet – the cry of a heart
It’s a plea from a man… from all humanity
A longing for freedom and dignity

It’s heard in the hall of corporate towers
And behind the wall of Abu Ghraib
The basest desire, the greatest of needs
Is for a man to be free and live in dignity

Set me free from your shackles of shame
Set me free from your chains of hate
Rise up and join your voice with all humanity
Let me live in freedom and dignity
