It’s been ten years but it seems like yesterday
She walked up to my table at a French cafe
She smiled at me and said, “Parley vous Francais?”
I shook my head and said, “No” but she sat down anyway
We ordered cappucino and gazed in each other’s eyes
We drank and said nothing; tried to read each other’s mind
I know enough French to be a tourist, but not much more
So we finished our cappucino then ordered some more
[chorus]
I remember those Cappucino Days
Words were scarce; I didn’t speak French anyway
So we lifted our cups as the time slipped by
And we drank to the dreams in each other’s eyes
Oh, to return to those Cappucino Days
We met there at the same time every day
Must of lasted for weeks; each day went just the same
I guess she was lonely, must of had nothing better to do
Until the day she smiled and simply said, “Adieu”
For several more weeks I’d go to that French Cafe
I’d order cappucino; watch the people walk by and wait
Somehow I knew I’d never see her face again
But, I knew she was one girl I could never forget
