An anxious pulse in all creation
A current of anticipation
The kingdom of God has been released
A call to each new generation
To turn from war and degradation
A call to lay down arms and live in peace
And I’m still waiting
For God’s kingdom to come
I’m still waiting
For that day of peace to dawn
In the nations
How long, Lord, how long?
I’m still waiting; I’m still waiting
A battle cry now sounds anew
But I won’t answer; I refuse
Jesus cries out “love your enemies”
God’s kingdom is worth dying for
But empire’s not worth killing for
Love must usher in the day of peace
