I’m Your Friendly Executioner

The time has come to go to your beheading
You’ll find it’s not as bad as you’ve been dreading
Actually, I hear it’s rather painless
It’s too bad that the axe-man’s job is thankless

[chorus]
I’m your friendly executioner
And I’ve got a task to execute
Please don’t be mad it’s nothing personal
It’s just that my “task” today is you
I’m your friendly executioner
And you’re the one I’m here to execute

Soon your name will be listed with the martyrs
And you’ll go to visit your forefathers
So no crying, bellyaching, or wailing
After all it’s not as bad as impaling

Your head will fall into a wicker basket
If you have a last request, please, just ask it
Soon you will be one with the universe
Thought about that way, you must admit it could be worse

[chorus]

[bridge]
We could be buddies under other circumstances
Play a little dice; take our wives to dances
But I’ve learned it’s not good to get too friendly
These relationships never have happy endings

[chorus]
