Your post-millenial socio-political religion
Of empire and dominion
Is patently anathema to everything that
Jesus said he was for
You use your faith to go to war,
To spread your hate and bigotry
And burn down everything that
Jesus gave his life for
[chorus]
That’s not what Jesus said;
How did you get that in your head?
How can you twist his words into your narrow conclusions?
That’s not what Jesus said;
I think you’re dangerously misled
You’ve been following the path of hatred and delusion
Look at the blood you’ve shed
That’s not what Jesus said
You pretend to walk the walk that Jesus walked
You talk the talk but still ignore
The greater social implications
Of what he taught
Where do you stand on poverty?
And do you love your enemies?
Or is that even part
of the religion you hawk?
[chorus]
