Haven’t done the things I hoped to do
Haven’t loved you the way I wanted to
There’s no excuse; all I can say
Is ain’t it funny how life gets in the way
Yea, that’s life lived every day
Life gets in the way
We make our plans,
but what can you say?
Plans fall to the side,
when life gets in the way
Oh yes, I had plans when I was young
So many things I could have done
Now all I can do is gaze through the tears
And wonder how I might redeem the years
But those years are past and with regret
I must admit there’s things I’ve not done yet
Dreams felt so close in younger days
Ain’t it funny how life gets in the way
