Drunkards Song

Drunkards Song – DOCX file

This is a very rough initial recording… Ben Crawford on guitar and singing.

A Psalm of Lament and Hope
Inspired by Psalm 69

I carry the scorn and shame on my head
For you have adorned me with trembling and dread
My sin is before me all the day long
And I am the drunkard’s song

My bones waste away and my face has gone slack
I carry the weight of my sin on my back
My friends turn away and join in the throng
Singing the drunkard’s song

chorus:
Oh, Lord, I lift my soul to you
Carry me through this pain
Grant me a heart renewed
Restore my soul again
Restore my soul again

I put on the sackcloth; I weep and I fast
How long, oh Lord, will this suffering last?
I stand for what’s right but am counted as wrong
For I am the Drunkards Song

The darkness surrounds me and blots out the sky
The waters flow ’round me and threaten my life
My tears flow like rivers all the day long
I am the Drunkards Song

Bridge
My heart is steadfast, Lord
My only hope is you
My heart is steadfast, Lord
My only hope is you
