Jewel (shine, Haiti, shine)
A sea of brown in a sea of green
A tidal wave born of poverty
Prisoner stares at the star-filled sky
In a prison bound by chains of time
Haiti is a Jewel of irridescent light
Trying to shine; trying to find her way
Haiti is a Jewel under sands of time
Trying to shine; trying to find her way
The dogs of war travel over the roads
The cross and sword battle over the bones
Hope walks carefully through the teeming streets
Hoping to avoid hope-killing greed
Haiti is a Jewel of irridescent light
An uncut diamond plucked from the mine
Soon she’s going to break out of her prison of time
And like a diamond she will shine
So shine, Haiti, shine; shine like the jewel you are
Shine, Haiti, shine; shine like the morning star
