There’s a man downtown
I think he may be deaf
But he always says “hello”
Then he smiles and says
“I hope you have a good day,
and find goodness where ever you go”
And that makes me happy
That makes me smile
It makes my life better
If only for a while

It puts a smile on my face
As I go on my way
The next time I see him
I might shake his hand
Just to thank him for his kindness to me
We could all learn a lesson
From this humble man
About how to treat people we meet
