Mary’s Hair

She walked in the room and found his place
She sat at his feet and looked up on his face
His eyes told a story of mercy and grace
And she knew what she came here to do

She took out the vessel and broke it in two
A sweet soft aroma spilled through the room
She cried as she wiped the oil on his feet
Then dried them off with her hair

chorus
(and) Nothing smelled as sweet as Mary’s hair and Jesus’ feet
The fragrance of forgiveness filled the air
But no one there could understand the sacrifice displayed
1 – No one knew the reason she was there
2 – Jesus was anointed for the grave

They waited and listened to what he would say
(was this) Extravagant love or extravagant waste?
Why would he let himself be seen this way?
Surely this could be sold for the poor

He looked down at Mary and smiled at her gift
Where could he find more with faith like this?
“Let her alone,” he said tenderly
“She’s kept this for my buriel day”
