Time Machine

If I had a time machine
I’d visit with the future me
To see what kind of man I had become

I’d buy a cup of coffee for me
Maybe share a biscuit
While we talked

I’d ask “How is it with my soul,
Now that I’m old and all my days
On earth are nearly done?”

What would the old me have to say
About the way I chose
To spend my days?

What wisdom would I share with me
To help me see
The path I should take?

What sage advice would I give me
To help me see
What difference I could make?

If I had a time machine
I’d visit with the future me
To read the epitaph on my grave

Would it say “He lived a life of purpose
and Glory unto God”
Or “What a waste”?

If I had a time machine
If I had a time machine
