Rise of Man

Nothing now will ever be the same again
The thought was rushing wildly through her mind
She struggled hard to think and even comprehend
As the horde rode off and left her far behind

[chorus] So has it been since the rise of man
Conquer and kill everything you can
No quarter given; no one left half-alive
No fighting chance in Heaven for the race to survive
So has it been since the rise of man
A legacy of genocide and blood on our hands

There were no voices warning of calamity
No prophets preached the coming of the end
The conquerors would write a different history
That the ones who bore the scars could not defend

The woman looked around and took stock of her life
The life she knew would never be again
The miracle was she alone was left there alive
And she bore the lone survivor of her clan
