Wayward Child

Why must I be such a wayward child
My rebel heart always running wild
Why can’t I learn to be still and obey
Why must I cry for my own way

Why does it seem like I never win
I get on my feet and get slapped down again
My bitter tears are my closest friends
Sometimes I wish it all would just end

And yet you say you love me still
You hold me near and always will
When the darkness fills my night
I cling to you to be my light

Too many times I’ve been near the ledge
I just close my eyes as I inch towards the edge
But something inside keeps holding me back
And keeps me from plunging into the black

And yet you say you love me still
You hold me near and always will
When the darkness fills my night
I cling to you to be my light

The Lord Has Done Great Things For Us

based on Psalm 126

When the Lord restored our fortunes
As we dreamed of better days
Then our mouths were filled with laughter
And our tongues with shouts of praise

And they said among the nations
The Lord has done great things

When we heard the shout of freedom
And the Lord’s voice called our name
Then He led us out of darkness
And He covered all our shame

When our souls were barren deserts
He redeemed us by His hand
Then a flood of living waters
Flowed through this thirsty land

As we rest in peaceful silence
And our memories turn to prayers
We recall we once were strangers
Now the father calls us heirs

And they said among the nations
The Lord has done great things
And they said among the nations
The Lord has done great things for us

Remember Again (What Christmas Means)

Remember the time
We got so excited
For Christmas to come
The boy in the manger
The star in the sky
That Jerusalem morn

The flocks in the fields
Wandered around with no
Shepherd to lead
The angels from Heaven
Sent them to witness
The birth of a king

Remember again
Where Christmas began
Forget the tinsel trees
And postcard scenes
Recall the holy day when
Peace on Earth was proclaimed
And push aside the things
That hide what Christmas means

Remember the time
You first heard the story
Of when Jesus came
The perilous journey
No room in the inn
For his family to stay

And yet through the danger
A baby was born
And the angels would sing
While the rest of the world
Ignored the birth of a child
Who would be Christ the King

Our Times Are In Your Hands

In a humble warehouse in an unnamed city
Your people gather and you are there
They play their music and lift their voices
They sing your praises and lift their prayers

Anywhere that two or three are gathered
That is where you’ll be in their presence
Anytime we call your name you bend your ear
And grant us a taste of heaven

Our times are in your hands
Our lives are in your hands

[chorus]
We are the living mosaic of God
Each life a stone in a tapestry of love
We come together to lift up his name
And to share his hope and life and grace

There’s a humble spirit in these broken people
Eyes of compassion; hearts that care
There’s a move to comfort; hand on a shoulder
So they will know that you are there

bridge:
We’re the hands and feet of Jesus in this world
We’re the kingdom come on earth as heaven is
His church is how he’s chosen to reveal his face
And there’s no better place to be than this

I’ll Tell A Story

I’ll tell a story if you want me to
Buy me a beer is all you got to do
I’ll tell a tale about things I know
If you don’t like it just tell me so

I met some folks on the road today
They tried to kill me but I ran away
These kind of people are the kind you shun
The kind of folks you wanna stay away from

I had a woman once, her name was Jill
She started talking and she made me ill
She started singing and I almost died
You don’t believe me but I would not lie

I had a friend once, his name was Ted
He stole my woman and he wound up dead
Don’t ask me how ’cause I just can’t say
I only know today he’s in his grave

I had a dog of the terrier kind
Mangey, three-legged, deaf, and blind
I took him huntin’ every chance I could
One day I lost him in the deep dark woods

I’ll tell a story if you want me to
Buy me a beer is all you got to do
I’ll tell a tale about things I know
If you don’t like it just tell me so

Fresh

There is fresh food for you anytime you want it
A fresh drink of water to revive your soul
There’s a fresh word for you anytime you want it
A fresh understanding of our great God

Break down the walls
Throw aside your chains
Step out of the darkness
Into the light of grace

God spoke the word
God’s son was born
This man named Jesus
The word that changed the world
