I’ve flown many times in a Firefly
Sometimes you wonder how she stays in the sky
When you’re flying out deep in the gaping black
You can rest assured she will get you back
They added landing struts to the old aught-three
And they make a smooth landing such a breeze
It keeps your precious cargo from jostling around
From those belly-flop landings on solid ground
(chorus)
I’ll take a Firefly and rule the sky
There’s no other ship I would rather fly
They may scorch the land and spoil the sea
But they’ll never take the sky from me
We still count years by Earth’s solar days
Even though the outer planets swing in different arrays
In the timeless void it’s hard to decide
If there really is such a thing as time
You can say what you want about a Firefly
How much baling wire and duct tape you must apply
But it’s love, the one thing you can’t do without
You got to love her, little albatross, without a doubt
You can know every bit of math in the ‘verse
And she’ll shake you off sure as the turnin’ of worlds
You see it’s love that keeps a Firefly in the sky
Yea, it’s love that’s the heart of the Firefly
